Birdsall’s Ice Cream Co. has served quality homemade ice cream since its beginning in 1931. Gary & Anne Schmit and Marc & Michelle Murray are Owner/Operators of Birdsall’s Ice Cream Company in its 90th year of operation. Besides their love of Birdsall’s ice cream and desire to restore one of North Iowa’s treasures, they bring a wealth of experience to the table and are excited to blend the old and new for past and future generations of ice cream afficionados near and far.

Gary — remembers making it a point to visit Birdsall’s at least once in January since the ice cream workers were probably lonelier than the Maytag repairman. Favorite ice cream flavors are lemon custard, black raspberry and praline pecan.

Anne—remembers going to Birdsall’s as a child with her family and eating a chocolate chip cone. Her children, Sarah and Matt, also worked at Birdsall's during their high school years. 

Marc—remembers having peanut butter/pickle sandwiches and a chocolate malt from Birdsall’s on Sunday nights when he was a little boy.

Michelle—remembers treating her two sons to a Birdsall’s treat after opening nights at the children’s theatre, concerts and games…oh, and having a dish of chippermint or banana fudge ice cream herself!

Keeping people’s favorites on the menu and developing some exciting new additions will keep people coming back for more old-fashioned ice cream at this iconic retro ice cream shoppe.
